Last week the new GDPR legislation was implemented, resulting in the abundance of information about data protection and privacy statements. For Wuzzon this is a welcome enforcement as we have been working behind the scenes for months to ensure that we are fully compliant. For this reason we are now happy to report that the audit of the DDMA (the Dutch Information Commissioner’s Office) has been successful and that Wuzzon is now in possession of the Golden Privacy Guarantee certificate.

Earlier this month the a4uexpo took place at Hotel Okura, Amsterdam. A two-day event focused on performance marketing, packed full of information sessions and networking opportunities. The following is a keynote report on increasing (online) video consumption and the second screen opportunities for advertisers. The most important results from TradeDoubler's research, 'From first impression to last click` as well as a summary of the panel discussion concerning the state of performance marketing in the Netherlands, were also part of the program. In this panel debate, Lennart Ruigrok of Vesper Retail estimated that together, Wehkamp and Zalando control approximately 80 to 85% of the online fashion market.

The cost per sale transaction model: the Holy Grail?

Calculations based on cost per sale (CPS). Only pay for actual sales. Free traffic and 100% performance based. But is this really the Holy Grail? I believe that alternative accounting models, such as cost per lead, often result in much better and longer-term results. And I'm not the only one who thinks this; this year, Rabo Mobiel's online marketing manager, Annette Vendel, halted all CPS campaigns via affiliate networks: "At Rabo Mobiel, we want to be fully aware of what publishers are doing with our displays and brand messaging. With affiliate marketing this is difficult; the risk of reputation damage is higher than any benefits. Sales percentages which also had to be adjusted due to double counts, credit checks etcetera were too high to make this really profitable. "
